There is this word that is a very major part of the world race vocabulary: community.
We are constantly immersed in community while on the race. You are in a community of people known as your squad, you are in an even smaller community of people known as your team. You are moving to new communities of people each month, learning their cultures, the foods, their beliefs, and the way they do life. Community is a big deal on the race. Community was something I was incredibly excited albeit a little nervous about. I don’t have a good community of people at home, so my heart was so full knowing that that was something I would get to be immersed in this year. And I will tell you something: my community hasn’t disappointed.
I want to talk to you about someone who has become a very important part of my community. Her name is Jill Webb, and she is one my teammates. But really, she is more like a sister.
Jill is a spitfire. She reigns from the wonderful state of Nebraska, where you grow corn and sometimes show cats for the fun of it (no but really, that’s a thing there). Jill has a heart for children, a love for women caught it slavery, a beautiful spirit that longs to share the Gospel, quirky little “Jill-isms”, fun dance movies, a cool lip ring, a sassy attitude, spiritual discernment out the wazoo, and a zest for Jesus that will completely rock your world. When Jill speaks, people listen. In the 2.5 months we’ve been on the race, the Lord has been actively working on Jill, chipping away, remolding, rebuilding, and teaching her how to embrace the voice that He has given her. She is a powerful woman who has taught me so much. I am so thankful for her.
But there is something you need to know about Jill: Jill is at risk of having to leave the race.
You see Jill has a financial deadline coming up in 10 days. In just 10 days Jill needs to raise $2,000. She is actively working, diligently seeking out the Lord, and praying for a miracle. Jill has gained so much in the time we’ve been on the race, but I know that the Lord has so much more He wants to do with and through Jill.
Will you help me keep my teammate sister on the race with me? Will you help by lifting her up in prayer? Will you help by supporting her financially?
I encourage you to head over to Jill’s blog and get to know her a little bit better. I promise you what you find won’t be disappointing.
