Yesterday. Good Friday. A day of deep confusion. A day of deep sorrow. A day of deep pain. A day of deep despair. A day of deep heartbreak. A day of deep suffering. The day this man, this Jesus Christ, the Messiah, was broken. Beaten. Dead. Flesh torn from His naked body by iron and bone.  Mocked, spit on, and abused. Thorns shoved into His head and nails pierced through His wrists and feet, fastening Him to a cross to be crucified. Six hours He hung there. Six hours that His body was in agonizing pain. Six hours that He was taunted with shouts and ridicule. Six hours ending with a spear through His side. Good Friday: the day that the sinless One, our Sweet Savior, willingly took on the face of a sinner so that we could receive the face of a saint!

Today. Silent Saturday.  Waiting. Heartache. Crying. Praying. Seeking. Anger. Silence. The day that sits in between questions and prayers sent and prayers answered.  God was silent. Jesus was silent. Everything…. was silent. This day, I can only imagine, was a long day for the disciples, the believers, and the followers of Jesus Christ. But I can see the beauty of what today, Silent Saturday, is. The day that sits between two of the most powerful moments in our history! It’s a day of rest. God rested. Jesus rested. And so, we rest; we rest in Him, in His presence, and in His love. Because tomorrow, when Jesus walks out of His tomb, we walk out with him.

And tomorrow. Resurrection Sunday. A KING rises up. The silence of Saturday, broken! Proof that Jesus is who He said He was. Hope, life, love, freedom and salvation given without question. This is why He died for us… for you… for me. He DIED, for our freedom. He DIED, so that our sins were obliterated. He died so that we can have the beautiful gift of Salvation. And then He rose. God brought Him back from death. I can’t help but sit here in awe over the sacrifice that God made; that Jesus made, for us. I can’t help but sit here with a heart so full of thankfulness and joy at the beauty of what Jesus did. He is our hope. He is our life. He is our home. He is the reason we have received grace. And this is the reason we go. So that He may be known. So that lives can be changed by the story of a man, who died an ugly, brutal, and shameful death, for us.

One weekend, because of an ultimate sacrifice, separation between man and God, was eliminated.

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.”
