Monday’s are our Sabbath days. This means it is our day of rest. We don’t leave the base. Sabbath’s are meant for you to physically and mentally rest while spiritually growing with God. On Mondays we also have squad worship which is one of my favorite parts of the week.

Tuesday’s are our first day of ministry for the week. We go to our care point which is an after school program for children of all ages. We usually spend Tuesday’s playing with the children as well as bonding with the Gogos.

Wednesday’s are our second day of ministry for the week. On Wednesday’s we do prayer walks. These usually last from 2-4 hours and involves my team and I walking around the surrounding area of our care point and praying for the homes and businesses. We will sometimes to a spontaneous house visit on these prayer walks.

Thursday’s are our third day of ministry for the week. On these days we usually go on house visits. On house visits we do many things. For example we went on a house visit to an old woman’s home and we went and fetched water for her which was a 30 minute walk for her with large jugs of water. After that we prayed over her home and her son. In the area of Swaziland that we are in, most places are very spread out and so house visits usually take anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on how many we do per day. I have some amazing stories to tell about the people I have met on house visits. House visits are my favorite part of ministry!

Friday’s are our fourth and final day of ministry for the week. On Friday’s we clean up around the care point by mopping the floors, burning trash, and raking the dirt. We also play with the children as well as teach lessons some days. Friday’s are also half days at school for the middle and high school kids so that means we get to spend more time with them which is very fun! On some Fridays we are not able to go to the care point so instead we will go to Matata and evangelize.

Saturday’s are our adventure days! This means we are allowed to leave the base where we are staying and explore Swaziland more. Like I said earlier, Swaziland is very spread out and doesn’t have too many activities for adventure days. What we usually do is either go to a gas station known as SaveMor. Now this is no ordinary gas station. This gas station is absolutely our squad’s favorite place to go! It has so much food!! Another place we go is called Nisalea, this is a little more touristy in the way it is a restaurant and has a gift shop. It also has a peacock, zebra, and some bunnies. The last place we are able to go to is called Matata. Matata is a supermarket that has little shops around it. All of the places we have been our whole squad has loved and we really enjoy going when we can.

Sunday’swe go to Swazi church!! Swazi church is very different than church in the states. Swazi church is very loud. There voices are absolutely gorgeous. In Swazi church they dance a lot (which Swazi’s are so good at dancing). And Swazi church also lasts anywhere from 2-4 hours. After Swazi church we have a cleaning day. This means deep cleaning the kitchen, common room, verandas, and our bedrooms. Lastly, on Sunday nights we have teachings from our Squad Leaders or from one of the pastor’s that lives in Swazi.

This is just a brief description on what my squad/ team does while we have been in Swaziland. Every week looks different while we have been here so this may not be true for every week, but that’s what makes being here such an adventure! Though our day to day and week to week may change, our goal will always remain the same: to bring God to those who don’t know them and to embody Christ in every situation.
