I’m writing this blog because tonight I’m feeling particularly perceptive to God’s goodness. So here is some love for ya’ll.

This is to encourage my mom who is going to think of me more than anyone else while I’m away, but I’m hoping this blog will lead her to pray happy and trusting prayers over me instead of worried ones.

This is to encourage my squad mates. It’s to remind them that we are all called to do this thing and it’s going to be so sweet.

This is to encourage me, when I’m on the field in month 6,8,10, or heck – maybe day 4, and I’m feeling discouraged by the enemy and being tempted to forget why I’m doing this.

Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

God says we are the salt of the earth. Say whatttt. We’re not the boring people. We’re not prudes. We’re freaking salty! We get the honor of spicing up this world. God has put this Great Light in me and it wouldn’t be right to keep it to myself. The love and grace of Jesus is SO easy to give away. He’s too good not to share.

James 1:2-4

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Let this speak for itself 🙂

1 Peter 2:20-21

“For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

I don’t know to what extent I will be suffering on the world race, but I do know that in times where I feel beaten down, I can remember that it is a gracious thing in the sight of God for me to endure through suffering. When I’m feeling bad or feeling like I’ve suffered enough, I’ll remember to endure. It’s time to suffer patiently and happily. Oh yeah and the last cool thing is that when we suffer for God, it’s kind of like Jesus is our big brother and we are continuing with his legacy. God is refining me. I can feel that is what He is doing and will be doing on this trip – and that might look like suffering. But luckily… “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18)

It’s incredible to see that God can use this trip to push out through me and reach people who need Him, and to press deeper into me to become more intimately known, more rightly praised, and more deeply loved by His daughter.
