Today my team and I are sitting in a beautiful house that is often rented to house missionaries when they are here in San Jose, Costa Rica. We aren’t staying here for the month, but because Fridays are our “free days” and there is Wifi here, this is where we ended up today.
This home is beautiful and the peace of God radiates within it.
As soon as we arrived here the gate to the driveway opened to reveal this warmly painted refuge, with a matching stone fountain that sits in the middle of the wrap-around, brick driveway, and even a small but beautiful green grass lawn. At the sight of all of this, I was reminded of just how beautiful and valued we are by our Father.
Our value, identity, and joy do not need to come from nice things or ideal circumstances. Through the intricate details in the decor such as the carving in the solid wood front door and the sweetness of the breeze that has been keeping us company while we contact our loved ones, God has been whispering, “The beauty that is in this home that I have provided for my children, the awe in which you stand while admiring My provision, they don’t compare to the way that I see you. They do not compare to the awe I have as I gaze upon you, My sweet daughter.”
And I’m left sitting here, soaking in His love and comfort. I love knowing that I make Him smile and that I am the apple of His eye. I love that I’ve done nothing to earn His love and as a result nothing can change the fact that He loves me more then the stars and more then the beautiful mountains that were also crafted by His skillful hands. He loves me because He loves me, and that’s how He loves all of His children…even the ones who don’t know Him yet.
I love these refreshing moments, these sweet reminders.
Thank you, Father.

I am on a squad of 47 people and we have been traveling throughout Central and South America since January of this year. We have left our friends, family, jobs, and homes to embark on this journey with our Savior. He gave His all so we’ve given our all and He keeps showing us that we have more to give.
With an open heart and open hands I say, “You can have it all, Lord. Please, take it all.”
