My time here is already halfway over. And I must say it is wonderful to be in Siaya. The rain comes just about every day to cool things down. But it never gets chilly.

The people here have blessed me greatly by their openess and generosity.

Everyone from Deliverance Church has gone to great lengths to make sure we feel comfortable and at home here. I feel like I've given little to them in comparison to what they've given me.

Every time I greet someone and no matter how many times I've met them before they shake my hand and ernestly say "Karibu sana. (You are very welcome here.) Feel at home."

And I say "Asante sana. (Thank you so much.)"

They just say "Sowa sowa, it's okay."

I don't know if I told you, but we are staying with the most gracious hosts anyone could ever want. Pastor Joseph Osindwa and his wife Nellyne have opened their doors and allowed us to stay with them even though their house is not large and they have four children plus a nephew who's staying with them. So last week when Lucas and Sarah were staying with us we had 16 people living there.

I couldn't help but think that only Jesus could make such cramped living quarters draw us closer together instead of creating disruptions in our friendships.

The other day Nellyne came to me as I was reading on the couch and began to tell me about her nephew Maxwell who lives with us. He seems to be a normal rambuntious five year old, but she said his mother didn't want him and had tried to poison him. And that's why this family has taken him in.

He only speaks his tribal language and so it's hard for us to comunicate with him since we only speak English and a little Swahili. And yet it's not been hard at all. He enjoys goofing off with us and I think he can tell he's loved. His big eyes and wide grin tell us better than words how much he likes it when someone gives him attention.

Nellyne asked that I remember to pray for him as well as the rest of the family when we leave this place. And she told me how she had also taken care of one of her husband's nephews a couple years ago. By now he had gone back to his family.

Nellyne has a heart for boys since she has three of her own and she loves caring for any boy who needs her love.

Pray for this amazing woman of God and the sweet ministry she has to her family and her church.

This week we are starting a children's program every afternoon. Please pray the kids of this neighborhood will learn about the fruit of the Spirit despite communication difficulties.
