Most people do not know that I really enjoy writing poetry. My poems are usually personal and I don’t share them with anyone. I’ve felt it on my heart for a while to start sharing my poems out of faith that they will speak to people. So here’s one I wrote today, inspired by 2 verses I always keep close to heart……

Romans 12:2-
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

John 16:33-
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

I wrote this poem expressing how hard it is to be a Christian. And expressing how important it is to pray. Also to have peace in knowing that we have victory in Jesus.

There’s a war that wages within

Holiness and sin

My soul knows the truth,
knows who wins
In Jesus my helper my friend

There is darkness I feel it

The enemy attacks again and again
But I will endure to the end

In battle I struggle to find rest

Battles of spirit and flesh

My faith is put to the test

I fight on my knees.

Yes, on my knees I take a stand

I clench to the promises truths and commands

Pressing against the worldly demands

They pull me in like quicksand

I reach out…..

I’m clinging to a saving hand.

I am free……

There’s a war that wages within

Holiness and sin

I know the truth
I know who wins
In Jesus I am victorious over sin.

Yes in this life we will struggle with sin. We will struggle with putting worldliness before Holiness. At times we will feel so much internal conflict it’s overwhelming. We will face rejection and persecution. We will lose things and people. We will suffer.
Cling to the promises of God.
When you feel the war within, fight in prayer.
The war is already won! We are victorious in Jesus! It is finished.
