Yesterday my team and I decided to go to the downtown square and do some ministry.
It had been raining all day, but our fearless and faithful team worship leader decided we should still go.
As we walked out the door I prayed,
“Lord let’s bless some people today!”
Before we even leave the house we see a woman stuck! She was in her truck over a ditch, 3 wheels on the ground, one not.
We all ran to her rescue as we jumped in the bed to weigh it down and she was back on the road!
Once we got downtown the rain stopped!
We sat down to worship and pray.
I felt the Lord telling me to
“go ask those break dancers if they speak English”
So I did……and it was awkward…very awkward.
Each one of them looked at me with so much anger and when I asked if they spoke English they just shook their heads no. The worst part is that I tried to leave the scene but felt the Lord telling me to stay…… nothing happened, literally nothing.
Finally I left feeling so uncomfortable and rejected. I asked God what that was all about. He just wanted to remind me that obedience is uncomfortable, and in obedience there is a lot of rejection. I mean look at Jesus.
After that I asked God what’s next.
“Go join what’s already been started”
I looked across the way and one of my teammates was surrounded by children, handing out balloons. I walked over there whipped out a sharpie (in picture) from my bag and began drawing faces on the balloons for the kids. They loved it!
After a while we were the center of attention downtown. Kids were smiling and dancing around us. The crowd of teens who were once too cool for us, were now requesting pictures with us. And in the distance I hear Christian music playing in English! A couple of the breakdancers were playing Christian music on their speaker! Old people would walk by and smile at our signs.

And the children’s parents smiled as we told our new friends goodbye, and they begged us to come back.
It was incredible to see the difference in the atmosphere. A once gloomy and quiet downtown square was now filled with the joy of the Lord! When we left that place there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that God used us to bring life into downtown Juticalpa!
