Ok so I’ve seen and posted a lot of blogs about crazy adventures, life changing experiences and beautiful God stories.
Let’s face it though, not every day out here is “blog material”.
I want you all to see a different side of this journey. I hope this encourages you all to start living your life as a mission everyday, right there at home.
Yes, I am traveling the world telling people about Jesus, but I’m still human, and this is still life.
So here’s an ordinary blog to show you all that I am human.
Yes, I am human; I fail to read my Bible, I get bored, I get annoyed, I get sick, lazy distracted with my phone and the list goes on.
So what happens in between the volcano hikes and the African dance parties?
What do I do when I’m not sharing the Gospel with Muslims or preaching at a foreign church?
I’ve been away from home for over 180 days, and a lot of those days look just like my day today. Today, was an ordinary day.
Today I woke up, and battled the distraction of scrolling my phone while having prayer and bible time.
I laid in bed and wrestled with the choice to watch Netflix for a while, or go to a coffee shop. I ended up just praying about my day, and writing a bit.
I went to a doodle class at a cafe and had lunch with a teammate. Then walked home through insane traffic, pollution and terrible smells.
I rested my eyes for a bit, prayed some more and went to get groceries.
I cleaned up my room, prayed a little more, and showered.
Then I wrote this blog!
That was my day, here in Kathmandu, Nepal.
So how can you make a mission out of everyday life?
The 1st thing I’d say is LOVE! Treat everyone you come into contact with as if you truly love them! It’s not easy, but I want to challenge you to do that because it’s what God is calling you to do.
Secondly I’d say to look for opportunities to encourage or tell others about Jesus.
Today was ordinary, but I LOVED! I smiled at everyone, I let them know they were noticed and I shared Jesus with a girl who is always asking for donations. I gave her some cash and asked her if she knew Jesus, she said “Yes He was a good man.”
I smiled, and shared the truth with her. She didn’t accept Jesus at that time, and we were both really uncomfortable, but I made a mission out of today!
I want to challenge you all to make a mission out of today. Even if your life seems ordinary, you have a purpose!
As followers of Jesus we are ALL called to be missionaries. Be a missionary at work, at the grocery store, restaurants even at home. All you have to do is LOVE.
LOVE EVERYONE, even yourself.
