Feeding the hungry

How many times do you eat per day? Do you eat three times a day or maybe four times not including all of the snacks that you eat in passing. Have you ever really grasped the fact that some people do not even get to eat once a day? For the past few days we have been participating in a feeding program that happens twice a day in two different locations. First, a couple of people work hard in the kitchen cooking up all of the food. Next, the cooks pour all of the steaming hot food into two separate containers that will hold about 7 gallons of food per container. After the preparation of the food is completed we load the two containers of food into a suv with about 8 or 9 team members and head to the site where we are able to bless a whole entire community. When we arrive at the site, the kids come running up to where we place the food. One by one they all line up in a single file line holding their cups out waiting for us to fill them up. After their lines are formed we pray for the food and for the community and then the feast starts! God blesses the food and the cups the kids hand us are fill up with fresh hot food that nourishes their bodies. They do not complain about how the food was cooked or what kind of food we brought them, they just eat it with a greatful heart. Then after all of the food is served we get to spend time with the kids and the families. Yesterday, I had so much fun running around the fields in the pouring down rain chasing the kids. Then I got to spend some time with some teenagers that were standing on a pourch singing rap songs.

Before we left I asked them what we could pray for and they wanted God to provide a basketball court on their land. So we prayed for a basketball court and believe that God is going to provide one within the next year. One thing I have noticed every time I have went to a feeding and whenever I go somewhere in the philippines is all of the smiles on the filipinos faces! They are all so happy! They are filled with joy and laughter!  I have been so blessed to be able to be a part of feeding families that do not get to eat on a daily basis.
