Whenever someone asks how much I need to fundraise for the race I usually get one of two responses: “Oh thats not that bad.” Or their eyes just get really wide. My favorite response was: “Oh you can get that much money by whining.” Sometimes people are encouraging, and sometimes people plant a seed of doubt in my mind. Yes, I understand that $15,000 is a lot of money. But I serve a God who comes through in BIG ways, and will continue to show Himself throughout this season of fundraising.
I don’t want my fundraising process to simply be getting the required funds to go. Of course that is the main goal, but fundraising is more than that. It forces you to take a step out, it makes you say “OK God, do Your thing.” I want to learn what it means to truly have faith in the fact that my goal will be reached. I want Him to teach me not to worry, to not get stressed out about this, and to lay this at his feet and let God be God. This is a lot easier said then done, but its a learning process.
To sum this up, My hopes and prayers for my fundraising process are these:
1.) God will continue to provide like He has been.
2.) I will learn what it really means to put my trust in Him.
3.) My view of God will be changed, and I will see just how big He really is.
