JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY
Today is an off day from ministry here in Malaysia and I’ve been able to just sit and be still with Jesus. We are in the mountains by a lake far away from any big cities so it is very peaceful here- after all there is nothing better than just resting in His presence.
I don’t remember many times when I just sat alone with absolutely nobody around, not a worry in the world, nothing going on around me, and nothing I had to do besides just be with Him. He says He is all you need and that Has never felt so true.
While I am sitting here feeling such peace, I can’t help but see what’s going on back in America through my social media news feeds and be disturbed- I wanted to share whats on my heart.
Jesus is, was, and will always be the ONLY way and the only Hope. John 14:16 “I am the way and the truth and the life.” As I sit here in the middle of a predominately Muslim country watching all the chaos going on back in the USA, I wonder:
How have we gotten so far off?
What happened to “One Nation Under God?”
This is one of the biggest holidays in the Muslim world this week and I have heard celebrations and fireworks going off for 8 days in a row now. There is no chaos- just happy, law abiding, peaceful people celebrating something that is extremely important to them.
On the other side of the world back in the United States, the exact opposite. This is the week when Americans celebrate our Independence, Freedom, and every opportunity we have by living in this great country. Yet all I have seen from the news this week would point in the complete opposite direction.
What happened to peace, love, and freedom? What happened to John 3:16? “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Since when do people who follow Jesus and call themselves Christians get to pick and chose who and when to Love?
We are called to Love all people the same way Jesus did, does, and will always do. We are entitled to have opinions and one of the greatest gifts of being an American is to have freedom of speech. It’s just so unfortunate that we use this freedom in every possible way besides pointing people to Jesus.
What if we as Christians started using our voices and our social media pages to point people towards Him and not away from Him?
Like I said, He is, was, and will always be the ONLY Hope. Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega–the beginning and the end. I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come–the Almighty One.”
What would happen if we stopped looking around and started looking up, looking up at Jesus and what He has already done on the Cross. “It is finished.” Those were His last words as He took the weight of the sins of the entire world. There is nothing we can or can’t do, all we have to do is fix our eyes on Him and let him change us from the inside out.
When we fix our eyes on the Cross and the ultimate sacrifice of Love, their is no room for hate, condemnation, or fear. There is only room for Love. We can’t help but be changed. Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
The only Hope that ever was and ever will be is Jesus. He is it. There is no other.
Father, I pray that your overwhelming presence would sweep through the hearts of everyone back in America. May their eyes be opened to your glory and all that you are. May the peace and love that surpasses all understanding feel all their hearts. And may they fix their eyes on the Cross and the Love and Grace that you poured out for us- Even though we were so undeserving.
