Jorge, Mari, Dana, Rober and Amalia

I just wanted to take a second to tell you all how awesome our 5 translators were this month.

They were awesome!!!!  🙂

As Clinton said during our little thank you session for them the other day, they indeed were more than just translators. They became our friends and were right there with us in all the ministries we did this month and sometimes even did more work than we did.

I got to know some of them more than others. Jorge quickly became a friend to probably all of us WR’s staying at Casa de Flan. He learned how to recognize when we were being serious and sarcastic and seriously became one of us. He was selfless in the sense of being willing to translate for us whenever we asked. And often even took the lead on figuring out logistics on bus rides and at a schools. He definitely became my friend, and I won’t soon forget him. And funny thing…he worked at a European cruiseliner last summer, and we figured out that we were both in Stockholm at the exact same time last summer. Small world.

I got to know Amalia pretty well too. She is the wife of a pastor here in Lima, and she was the translator that went with Talia and I to Elsa’s and Zoila & Yesenia’s. And seriously, at times she was being much more of a missionary than we were. Given she knows a ton more Spanish than we do, but she is a natural at evangelizing and sharing the good news of Jesus. It was such a blessing to have her with us….you have no idea!

Rober (yes it’s correct. there actually isn’t supposed to be a ‘t’ at the end of his name) became a good friend too. He was always eager to learn more about English. To the point where he would even write down expressions that we would use that he didn’t understand. He too was just great to work with, and doing his job well was a high priority for him. And he even laughed with me when I belched at times. 🙂

Dana and Mari were great too without a doubt. I just didn’t get to know them as much.

All 5 of them were great to work with and live with. They took their jobs very seriously and without them, we wouldn’t have been able to do all that we did here in Lima.

MUCHOS GRACIAS AMIGOS!!!!!
