Our Legacy….What Would We Do In Our Last Moments:
The essence of life is very interesting to me….
* My biggest fear isn’t dying, in fact I always felt like maybe God would bring me home at an early age…my biggest fear is looking back on my life and not have lived the true life that God had created me to live…
As I often think about life and who I am and the one who I am living for – my biggest hope is to make God proud and to love others with his love in a way that they can feel His love and know that He is real! I hope that I can be a small part of saving others by leading and guiding others to the one and true Hope who has saved me…(John 3:16, Romans 15:13, Luke 9:24, 1 John 4:7-12. Hebrews 6:19).
As I watched the video today on Sports Center on ESPN, I was brought to my knees in tears asking God to give me the courage and the love to live the life that He has called, created, and chosen me to live by helping and saving others. As a kid growing up I always wanted to be a Ninja Turtle, a warrior, or a fireman because I always wanted to help people…
Well as much as this video makes me want to be a fire fighter, I have realized that God has called me to help others, but in a different way. God has called me to not only help others in this life, but to help them know of the true hope that we all have in Christ for after our lives. So tomorrow morning I am leaving for Georgia to start a new chapter of my life to partner with a great organization in helping others come to know the true friendship, love, and hope of Jesus Christ!
As I think about what my legacy might be when I die and go to my true home in heaven with God – I hope I will be remembered as someone who loved God with all of my heart and life, and loved all others with his love, life, light, and Hope that is alive within me.
What will your legacy be?
If we are ever in a situation like Welles Crowther was, I pray that God will give us the courage and love to spend out last moments helping and saving others….saving them physically from danger, and saving them spiritually by leading and pointing them to the true hope and love of Jesus Christ!
As I saw this story and I heard about how Welles so heroically gave up his life to save others…
I thought of our Savior Jesus Christ…who too gave up his life to save all others and who to me is the true definition of what a hero means and what a real life superhero is!
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
– John 15:13
As I looked up from watching this video: I saw a red bandanna tied to my book bag that I had with me all around the world. I pray that I can live a life with such courage and love as Welles did in his last moments. I pray and hope that God touches your heart through this video and reminds you of the story that He is writing and the legacy that He is leaving within you and your life!
God Bless you all – Your friend in Christ, Ryan
“Father I pray for myself that I would live a life that is full of your love and that I will love others with your true hope and love within me. God I pray that I can be courageous like Welles was and help others know the true hope and love of Christ. I pray that I can help people in whatever way that I can, but most of all help them have you in their hearts so that they are saved eternally with your hope and love. Father I pray God that you can touch everyone through this video and post and help them know that there alive for a great reason and that your alive within them. I love you Jesus and I hope in you and I thank you for how you used Welles to save those lives on September 11th. I thank you God that you are a God who turns ashes into beauty and can work through all things to bring us your hope and love.
I love you and in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen”
