Go After What Makes You Come Alive
There is a quote that the Lord has used to inspire and influence my life so much. It’s a quote from a book called, “Wild at Heart” and it says,
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come ALIVE.”
– Howard Thurman
This quote inspires me so much because it makes me ask myself what gets me excited, what gets me truly pumped up, and what makes me alive.
I have struggled wondering if I am meant to go on the World Race and I have wondered if I am going for the wrong reasons. But I believe with all of my heart that God is calling me to go because it is something that makes me come Alive in Him!
I believe the Lord is calling me to go on to become less of me and more of Him. I believe he is calling me to go to transform and grow me from within from the inside out. To transform my identity fully in Him where I know who I am in Him and most of all I know WHO HE IS IN ME!
A professor that I love and look up to so much always tells me that you spell Faith with
R-I-S-K.
So I am choosing and risking to go…why….because I believe God is calling me to go to become fully alive in Him so that I can be a spark to help others become fully ALIVE!
I am risking and choosing to go, to trust and believe that the Lord will do only what HE can do….
“For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made ALIVE.” – 1 Corinthians 15:22
“Because of God’s great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us ALIVE in Christ – when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4
Bio wrote on July 1st 2012, the day before I left for the World Race:
Hi my name is Ryan Otto. I just turned 27, today actually and I am leaving tomorrow for a 11 month long mission trip to 11 different countries. I just recently graduated from Grad school and people often ask me why I am choosing to pay money to go on a year long mission trip?
I am truly going because I want to live the adventure of life that God has created me to live. I want to find out who I Ryan Otto truly is and I want to find out who God is within me.
I am going to serve the lost, the broken, the homeless. I am going to see the face of Jesus Christ in people and to learn how to love people like God calls us to love them.
* I most of all am going because I want to fall back in true love with Jesus Christ in intimacy and truth. Jesus Christ explains in Luke 10:26 that the greatest commandment is to Love our God with all of our hearts, stregnth, souls, and minds. I want to love Christ more and I just know this is what God has called me to do.
I am going to find out who I am, most of all I am going to find out who HE is in me. I am going to love, but most of all I am going to be loved!
* There is such a special little girl named Addi who God has spoken through so much in explaining the true essence of the adventure that we all have in life!
