BlOGPOST GUATEMALA! Episode #3 – The DAY of Our Lives
Think of our country’s history and how it is filled with monumental days that have shifted the course of history and our own lives such as July 4, 1776, December 7, 1941, and September 11, 2001. Our lives are filled with wonderful days set apart for celebration of achievement and sentimental remembrance with our birthdays, wedding days, father’s days, mother’s days, and graduation days. Or how about the days of our “firsts” like our first steps, first words, first day of school, first date, first kiss, first car, or first house? But what becomes of the other days of life that remain? The days of which I speak are the ones that find themselves naked of recognition, recollection, and reputation. Although they may not possess the prestige to be coined a holiday or the merit to be chronicled in the great books of history, they are the most important days of our life. These are the days that truly fill up of a lifetime of ones days.
While serving here on the mission field, I am fervently renewing my feeble mind with a principal truth and discipline I tend to so easily forget. With the days seeming to slip away so quickly, all the more mindful I have become to daily be faithful and obedient with what God has placed in my life today. We are not promised tomorrow, but we are given only the day. Therefore, the process of how we live each day will ultimately be reflected in the production and legacy of our lifetimes. Even though the days may blend together in their procedures and patterns, each day is irreplaceable by the fact that it is the only one of itself in history.
How often it seems we remember to thank the Lord for the days of plenty, miracles of deliverance, and moments of sweet revelation. Then why is it also we still so often desire more provision, seek escape from our daily lives, and yearn for appointments with adventure? Have we allowed the lust and desires of romanticism in our Christian walk overwhelm the desire to be a faithful trustworthy servant of the master? We must not grow hasty for the coming days in our life, but seek to be prudent in THIS DAY so that Lord may find us faithful in what he has given us and what he has given us is THIS DAY.
“THIS is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in IT.”
Psalm 118:24
We must give all of ourselves in all that we do to the glory of the One who gives us the day and holds our tomorrows for we will each give an account for all of our days one glorious day. This ought not only pertain to our economical and personal purists in life, but further and more importantly in our pursuit of intimacy with God and His righteousness unceasingly growing and manifesting in our life.
This has been and will forever be the treasure from the Lord for me to be ever so focused on what He has before me each day the next 11 months of this trip and the rest of my life. I pray I live up to this standard through the power of the Holy Spirit. May it be the same with you as you live to serve Him!
Stand on the Truth, Walk in the Light, and Rest in His Love.
