BLOGPOST ROMANIA! Episode #1 – Saturday Night Fever

So after our long travels across the world totaling 4 days, then one more 12 hour train ride. I finally made it Oradea, Romania. I been enjoying weather, food, and cultural changes from Central America to Eastern Europe. I am a pretty big fan of change so I have been glad to embrace my new home. Our ministry this month is working with a community called the Camunil Felix. It is a large farm and village where the build homes and communities for the orphans of Romania to grow up with a normal life. Romania has come out of a communist regime that left many poor or dead. Consequently, hundreds of thousands of orphans filled the country.

(Hanging on the outside of a train to grab this shot, freezing cold)

Here we have worked on some houses they are bulding for the college age kids who transitioning from the homes to adult life. We have done everything from drywall plaster, framing, insulation, sanding, ect. To be honest it not the most exciting work in the world and was very cold the first week we were here, still we are happy to be here because our living conditions are amazing. We are staying in a hotel type place on the property and it is the best we have had so far on the trip. Amenities include hot showers, wi-fi, beds above the ground, huge kitchen, couches, and for yours truly a slightly out of tune upright piano. Who could ask for more! It has been so awesome.

My team was changed at the beginning of this month, so I thought I would introduce them, MARK ROWDON, KATIE HOWARD, DANI GRANT, EMILY BLUNT, and ASHLEY SISK and AISHA DAVIS stayed from my last team. Everybody is really nice and the adjustment so far has been seamless and good. I really wish I could go deeper but we have only been together for a few weeks, plus three teams are together this month so there are alot of people around. I am sure over the next seven months I will have plenty to share about these six individuals.

So everything had been going well, then everyone started getting sick with various things. I then knew that it would only be a matter of time till I was struck down, and last Saturday night I had 105 fever, bodyaches, chills, and headaches. To be brief in my explanation of how I felt, I could say it was not comfortable. I was in bed for seven days with migranes and overall body weakness. All I could think about was how lucky I am to be in a bed with a shower so close and all the nice people to take care of me.

(The day the fever came)

It has been a challenge through sickness to want to depend on your own strength to hold on to a Christ-like attitude. Everything sort of weakens when you physical body is weak. I have learned alot about how much I need to depend on Lord for my strength to persevere through times of sickness or frustration. In turth I always need to lean on the Lord for my strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I pray that I keep my heart pure before him by leaning on his perfect strength so he can be glorified through my words, actions, and attitudes. Thank you for all your prayers for my healing and I am glad to inform you I am back to 100%! Our God is a healer and deliverer in our time of need, "He may not come when you want him, but He'll be there right on time." Amen.

Stand on the Truth, Walk in the Light, and Rest in His Love.
