Thailand has changed and stole my heart last month. Seeing the beauty of this place, the culture, tasting the food, and experiencing a little of spiritual warfare. It has been taking a while to go from a country weather wise is normal for me (that time of year) to freaking hot and humid. Most importantly it has taking time getting back into the swing of things here and being open on what the Lord has in store for me. Thus far I can describe it in two words; foundation and intimacy.

This month for ministry we are building a home where about 35-40 boys will live. Boys who will be living here are at risk for being sold into human trafficking. Also, hanging out with boys and girls who are in current homes. Human trafficking and brothels are everywhere here and boys are getting trapped about the same as girls. I thought we would be putting walls up, doing finishing touches or something like that; but we get the most important part of any building, the foundation. If we do not have a a sturdy foundation, what would happen to the building? Think about this in your own life, what is your foundation built on?

So much time and effort goes into making a foundation. Comes to filling dirt in small areas, mixing concrete with the perfect amount of each element, to pouring it, and filling each pillar area with concrete. After pouring concrete, we must wait for it to dry completely before moving on. If we did not do this and just kept blowing through, how would the building hold? Don’t want to rush any foundation because the building will not last at all; same is with our Spiritual lives as well. Having a firm foundation in Christ is what we need, spending time and effort into our foundation makes it all powerful and stronger. The Lord was challenging me with how is my foundation? It was not great, I started building before the foundation was even dry. To help drive this home I started reading Song of Solomon. This book is all about intimacy.

How in the world does foundation and intimacy go together. In order to have that firm foundation, we must spend time with on, not to rush it, and strange part…enjoy it. Song of Solomon 2:3b-4 says With great delight I sat in his shadow and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to his banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. I have been reading a commentary from Hudson Taylor on it, he says; “When the heart submits, then Jesus reigns. And when Jesus reigns, there is rest. The Father was to spend time and invest in us by letting us come to his banqueting table. Here it is talking about enjoying the presence of the Father at his table because we have tasted his sweet fruit.

                                                               Rise up, my love

                                                             come away with me

                                                        my bride, my beautiful one

                                                           know that, you my love

This is I believe Jesus is saying to us! Foundation and intamicy go together because it takes time and spend time on it. I have been putting my investment into my beautiful bride who is Christ! I am still going through the book casue my foundation is not done yet. Is your foundation built or are you taking your time with it? If it is built, how firm is it?
