Tick, tick, tick, tick…The
second hand on the clock isn’t stoping. It moves forward like a
solider heading in to battle, nothing can stop it. The minute hand is
obedient to the command of the second hand and moves when its turn
comes. The hour hand moves as if to mark off the memories of the day.
Time, doesn’t care what we accomplish in the day, it keeps moving.

It never ceases to amaze me
that around the world we function in all hours of the day at the same
time. As I work in the heat of Africa during the day, my friends in
America are sleeping in the cold of the night. When I think back to
when I left home it seems as if though time has stood still, as if
though time never moved forward from September 11th 2010
11:55pm (pst) when I boarded my flight in LAX Airport to Hong Kong.
Yet, I know that when I return home I am going to feel as if though I
was in a comma for a year, and the time sneaked right past me.

But what about the time we
use everyday? We only get 24 hours in a day each and every day. No
matter what we do, or say, or how much we rush, or take our time, we
still only get 24 hours. So do I think I use my time wisely? What are
things that are wasting my time? Am I always to busy when a friend
calls? Do I find excuses to say no?

For the last 3 months I
have been in Africa now, and time here is well….it’s what we call
“African time” Stuff happens when you get to it. There is no
rush, no being late, no being early. You see on africa time when you
show up or get around to it, that is on time! It allows you to live
in a schedule of grace. So when your doing door to door evangelism,
and you are supposed to end at 5pm and you don’t get home till 7pm,
its ok. Because you just spent a lot of time with some muslims that
gave there life to christ. Some times I can be in such a hurry. I
want to get done and get out of the heat, or go eat. But many times,
the times God wants to show up, is the time my flesh is ready to
leave. Being obedient to the Holy Spirit, willing to say “Yes”
and willing to see what God would do is always better.

So there it goes, tick,
tick, tick…time is slipping away. Are you making the best of it?
Are you using your time wisely? You better hurry up and find out,
cause time is a wasting!
