I am selling these shirts for $20 a piece… (+5 for shipping)
(at the bottom of shirts is a very small URL to this blog site… ryanbrown.theworldrace.org)
I designed these shirts one day, creating them as they look. I really wanted to include a globe as that represents the world in which I will be experiencing as I serve Christ’s Kingdom.
The words:
Look.
Learn.
Love.
Came to my mind as I was trying to figure out what message to place on my shirts.
I just think that it is a chronological event that needs to occur in our hearts.
Sometimes first we need to LOOK. We need to stop having tunnel vision. Raise our heads from the small steps we are taking, and look around. We can easily go months or years without honestly looking around and trying to raise our awareness of what is going on around us. This can be either in our families, communities, country, or in the rest of the world.
I think it is then important to LEARN. Sometimes we think we just have all the answers. We think we know how to fix the problem with our religion, or with our culture. We sometimes fall into looking at people as projects. Or we start having an ethnocentric view that just because people in other countries don’t have the same material possessions or national infrastructure, they aren’t as “blessed” as we are. This process is humbling. It makes us realize that God has it under control, and He can accomplish things with our without us. It starts here that we LEARN that we are simply blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of a bigger story that He has called us to live. We also LEARN that this isn’t about glamour, but service.
LOVE. This is the real action. This is the form of acting upon the (looking) awareness that has been learned. I think this is where your awareness grows feet, and takes you places. I want to love more, and love better. I think so much learning comes from loving. I enjoy Mumford’s song Below my Feet:
Keep the earth below my feet
For all my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
I think Loving and Learning go hand in hand, they are like a union that continues to circulate. We serve by keeping our eyes open, we learn by keeping our hands working.
