Yesterday I was reminded how short life
is…
My roommate wasn’t feeling well so we
took her to the Urgent Care
and just looking around I realized how fragile
life is.
We don’t know how many days we have on
this earth…
we don’t know when we will take our
last breath.
After we saw the Doctor,
We headed over to Walgreen’s to get the
prescription.
We also picked up some purple hair
dye… choosing to live on the edge.
As we were checking out, I was joking
with the clerk asking how we’d look with purple hair.
The old lady behind us jumped in
immediately…
“Dye your hair purple! I
wasn’t born this old! Dye it before you go bald one day!”
She proceeded to yank off her hat and show us her cute little bald spot.
We died laughing and said YOLO…
Leaving the store with a joy and a new
appreciation for the term.
YOLO.
Although I am just 23 years old…
I feel the weight of how short life
is.
I choose to live in the moment.
I choose to never meet a stranger.
I choose to drink too much coffee
and take a picture of anything pretty.

I choose to laugh when I shouldn’t.
I choose to stop the car when I see a
pretty view
or just to smell the flowers.
I choose to not be in a hurry.
I choose to wear Cheetah print pants
and memorize dumb rap songs just because I can.
If the sun is out, no matter the mood
I’m in,
the windows will be down and i’ll be
screaming songs at the top of my lungs.
I choose not to people please.
I choose to dye my hair purple.
I choose to paint my nails obnoxious
colors
and to name everything I own.
I choose to wear sweatpants any chance
possible.
I choose to cry when I need to.
I choose to people watch and learn from
others mistakes.
I choose to speak what I feel.
I choose to play in the rain no matter
how old I am.
I choose to make eye contact with
strangers.
I choose to dream big.
I choose to believe that where I am is
home…
that whoever is around me is family.
I choose honesty.
I believe that it’s chill
to talk about the deepest darkest junk in my heart.
I choose to believe that no one is
better than the other.
I choose to see the lawyer the same as
the trash man.
I choose to believe that ending human
trafficking is possible…
And that AIDS can be cured.
I believe it is possible for
143,000,000 orphans to be adopted.
I believe in the supernatural.
I have seen with my own two eyes that
God is a God of healing and restoration.
I believe we have the same spirit in us
that God does…
and that he whispers his secrets to
us.
I believe that I am made in his image.

I believe that love casts out all
fear.
I believe that he heals broken hearts
and binds up wounds.
I believe that while he’s binding
hearts he’s counting the stars and calling them by name.
I believe that we are a breath…
here
one day and gone the next.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
I believe that we are just here for a
moment…
but it can be a moment that changes
everything.
I choose to embrace my moment and be
all that i can be.
Laugh.
Love.
Be obnoxious.
Dream a ton.
Pray even more than that.
What are you doing in your moment
here on earth?
What are you afraid of?
Dye that hair purple before you lose
it.
