Oh, the big question…what will you do after the Race?

I have been getting this question even before I began this crazy journey. And up until month 8, my answer has been the same “I have no idea.”

But I hit a point in Mozambique (month 7) where I decided it was OK if I did not have a plan after the Race. My next ministry is my family and I am excited to invest in them. And as soon as I let go of making those plans, the Lord decided to reveal my next steps.

I have blogged several times about dancing. I have reconnected with this passion in some way or form in every country on the Race. And looking back before the race, I can say that dancing is the one thing that has always made me happy and excited about life.

Several years a go a friend asked me, “If you could do anything as your dream job, what would it be?” I answered, “I would someday have my own dance studio and would use dancing as therapy/counseling…especially for married couples in trouble.”

But it was just a dream, not anything I really could see myself actually doing. But after doing and seeing all that I have these past 11 months, my mindset has changed. This adventure has a way of making you believe you can do anything. And the more I have found my identity in Christ, the more confident I have become in what He is calling me to do.

AND SO…I am going to continue pursuing the Lord through dancing when I return back to the states! I have learned to make plans, but to hold loosely to them so that the Lord can change and move me in the direction He wants. But the plan for the next year is to take dance classes, save/raise money, and invest in my incredible family (I just became an AUNT by the way!!). And then I will be applying for a dance program in Dallas, TX called Dance Revolution and hope to attend in the fall of 2013.

The program is called Ingredients and it will teach me how to dance from the inside out…from my identity in Christ and into the world that so desperately needs to see and find him. I will learn several types of dance, as well as how to choreograph…and all from a Biblical standpoint. When I leave, I should be at an advanced/professional level so that I can continue to pursue teaching.

I have discovered so much BEAUTY on this journey (in the world, in the Lord and in myself) and I want to help others’ discover theirs! I also know that I have much more to discover myself.

I am super excited for where the Lord is leading! I cannot thank you all enough for your support this past 11 months. I seriously would have not been at this point without your support, your comments on my blog, your emails of encouragement, your prayers through it all.  I plan to continue blogging for at least a year after the Race and I hope that you will continue to read/hear what the Lord will do.

This race is ending, but it has prepared me for a whole other kind of race. I definitely feel like I am in better shape to start another one!  😀
