And that is exactly
how the Kenyan people are! Over the past few days since Ma Binti Wa Yesu has
arrived in Busia, Kenya, we have been warmly welcomed. Reverend Gideon and his
wife have opened up their home to us, given us beds and food and a roof. Though
many of the amenities from home which most people consider necessities are
missing, it’s wonderful and I’m actually quite content. It’s been a great
experience learning how to take a splash bath out of a plastic bowl since there
is no pump for running water in the shower, adjusting to the concrete squatting
potties in the outhouse, sharing a room half the size of my bedroom with five
other girls, and cooking in a small space…

Reverend Gideon is
such a blessing to us! He has taken us under his wing and treats us like
daughters. His wife Jane, whom we all affectionately call “Mama, has opened
her heart and her home and graciously shows us how to cook and clean and helps
us shop. Walking down the streets, everyone cries, “Muzungu! which means
“white person and practices their English. Friendly shouts of, “Hi!Howareyou?
resound in our ears as bright smiles and waves come our way. Other local Kenyans
welcome us with the traditional Swahili greeting of “Habari! or “How are you?

It’s been amazing
how much God has blessed us. Since Reverend Gideon is blessing us so much by
allowing us to stay in his house for free, a lot of the money this month is going
back to bless them, mostly in the form of finishing a second building on their
property for future World Racers. So, everyone! When you support me on this
race, you are also donating to charity and helping out local Kenyans and future
World Racers! (meaning, you should help support me 😛 can you tell I’m getting
desperate? I have four months to raise the $8700)

Last of all, here is a video showing you
where my team is staying for the month. I’ll post more pictures as internet
allows ^_^
