One thing I try to do during my quiet time
is pray over Bible verses. One of my favorite prayer passages is in Ephesians.
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord
Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and
revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of your
heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has
called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His
incomparably great power for us who believe.” – Ephesians 1:17-19
The reason I love this prayer Paul speaks
over the Ephesians is because of what it’s asking for – more wisdom and
revelation in who God is and the eyes to see the future He has for us. Now, why
are these things important?
Well first off, for me, the more I know
someone and how they operate, the more I’m going to trust them. And it’s that
trust that allows me to have a deeper and richer relationship with people. Same
with God – the more I know about Him, the better our relationship.
Secondly:
“I pray also that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened in order that you may know the HOPE to which He has called
you…”
This is HUGE! MASSIVE!
Because, if we don’t know with everything
in our souls that God has something better for us than the things of this world
– then why in the hell would we ever choose God! That’s why we have got to know
God, trust God, love God! To know God is to understand He is good – ALWAYS! And
that while His path is more difficult than the path the world lays in front of
us. His path – God’s path will never lead us astray. It will never end in
death. It will always, without fail lead to life!
So how do I know God is good? How do I know
His way is better than the way of the world? Am I just picking out verses and
talking smack? Is this what I’ve been told my whole life so now I’m just
throwing all of it back at you? Or maybe, I just prayed over these verses
enough times and then – BOOM one morning I woke up with passion and conviction
for the truth! I wish it were that easy.
It’s funny really, because I’ve been asking
God for wisdom and discernment for quite some time now. And I’ve been hoping
that this “wisdom” I ask for would lead to some sort of assurance that God has
a better life for me than the one I left. Let me tell you folks, GOD IS GOOD!
He really does answer prayers!
I’d love to share with you the wisdom and
insight He’s laid upon me over the last couple weeks. I ain’t gonna lie – it’s
going to take a few blogs, but this knowledge has changed the way I view my
circumstances, my life and God. This process the Lord has taken me through has
truly brought me to a deeper level of understanding the way He works, why He
does things the way He does, why are things allowed to happen and how He uses
all of these circumstances to answer our prayers.
So I’d love to share this with all ya’ll
out there. The story starts in the blog below.
