A Missionary’s Life :: Danger-zone

Praise report and prayer request. My dear friend Shelley’s dad
has been battling cancer of the bladder, prostate, rectum, & colon
for the past year and 1/2. After a major surgery over a year ago that
left him with an ostomy bag,
he’s been struggling to heal. This week they went in to correct some
problems and were able to reconnect everything inside (something the
doctors previously said was IMPOSSIBLE!) PRAISE GOD!!! They
told him when he was diagnosed that he only had a few months to live, but Hubbard is a
fighter, and God is definitely at work in his body. Please lift him up
as he is healing from his recent surgery, and lift up his sweet daughter Shelley who
has faithfully taken care of him during his sickness. You can read more

3 little Angells. Yesterday we baby-sat for some
friends who had a funeral to attend (which is why this update is late).
Yes, they really were 3 little Angells (and not just because they’re so
adorable!) Sam & Isaac Angell (6 year old twin boys) and Tori
Angell (2 year old girl) kept us very busy!!! It’s been a while since I
baby-sat, and never for 3 those ages! We learned:  

We also learned that parents of small children deserve a medal for
managing that FULL-TIME! We were EXHAUSTED at the end of the day! 

 

Danger-zone. Well, I used to like that
song…until it became Rusty’s ring-tone on his phone. I think we’ve
heard it a thousand times in the past two weeks!!! Rusty is normally on
the phone alot for work, but lately it’s been all day, every day. This
was the second week of him answering the ‘office phones’ for The World
Race while the rest of the staff was in Romania for The Awakening
conference. WE ARE SO GLAD THEY ARE HOME NOW! (especially since we got
a 5am wake-up call from them IN Romania to say hi. Thanks a lot guys.)

Goodbye Pudge. Sadly, we have to say goodbye to
Pudge today. The end of The Awakening means Michael and Kathy are home.
It’s been a fun week and a half with our little Ewok! (isn’t he cute?)
We’ll miss him! (well, except for the early morning ‘wake-up barking’!)

 

Office update. WE HAVE DESKS!!! YES! I am SO
excited! After 5 months of working on a TV tray from our couch (with
‘work’ spread all over the coffee table), we finally have desks in our
home office! We got a great deal on 2 used desks from Emory’s
Furniture. We’ve bought 8 pieces of furniture from them since we got
married, and we’re so glad we could give them more business. Emory is
the sweetest christian man who’s been married to his wife for 60 years,
and he was kind enough to give us a ‘missionary discount’. We’re so
thankful God provided what we needed in our budget! I’m working on
organizing and decorating the office this weekend. Pictures to come
