Training camp was absolutely nuts. Our time was filled with sessions, exercise, meal times that rep the countries we will be in (some which involved crickets), tents, bucket showers, and the best community around.
We arrived and immediately became sponges, eager to learn and follow the Lord’s leading on our lives.
Adventures in missions really dove deep into who we are as children of God, and what we are meant to do with our lives. They focused a lot on baggage that you might have carried with you, and went to the heart of the matter. It was emotionally and spiritually draining in the best way.
There were so many things that I took away from my experience while training, but I will keep it down to these few points.
“For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:14
Following Christ is hard. It just is. Anyone who says different is lying to you.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
And for this reason, we are to come together as the body of Christ, and lift one another up in the hope that we share, renewing our minds daily with his truth through scripture. He gave us community for a huge reason.
“Since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” 2 Corinthians 3:12
If God wasn’t worth it, if what I have experienced wasn’t real and life changing/giving, you better believe that I would be running the opposite direction. Why would I put my desires on the side lines for what he wants me to experience? I could talk about the wonders of my Savior until your ears bleed, but only He can bring life to you. He can change everything if we say yes.
And so, if I were to pick a word that the Lord gave me from training camp it was this; bold. This is what he is calling me into. What he has done in me those past 10 days was life changing, and giving.
And so, I will go and proclaim the gospel. I will cast aside fear. I will be bold. I will follow my Abba.
