It was the 2nd Day in Ireland as a squad, and Autumn Harper decided to give me a challenge. She explained that her team enjoys giving challenges to one another and I became anxious to hear what it would be.
Spoken Word, she wanted me write a spoken word. I have seen spoken word done at my college and they had so much swag to them and words that kept your heart in check. I didn’t think I could do it but I accepted the challenge, the next few days I began thinking of things I could speak about and a blank would formulate in my mind. I was stuck!
I had an idea of what I wanted to speak about due to the song, “Through and Through” by Will Reagan and The United Pursuit Band. The verses is this, “You see me, and you know me and you love me through and through”. It has such beautiful TRUTH behind it.
One evening, I took a nap in the squad room and Logan Needy wakes me up to tell me to work on my spoken word. I told him I would after I finish my nap and he left the room. I tried going back to sleep but all these sting of thoughts intruded my mind and I couldn’t let them escape. I grabbed my laptop and began writing out these thoughts that easily flowed out through my finger tips.
I shared it during a squad meeting and my friend, Samantha Kolden wanted to make a video of it. It was through the help of my squadmates that this video is beautifully made. I took about 45 takes and a month in India to edit this video.
My Squad uplifts me and encourages me to go beyond what I think I can do. They push me to become who God has called me to be and call me out on my fleshly behavior. Love T-Squad!
