One afternoon our team had ministry at the church called, “Open Door”. It is when people come and enjoy pleasant life conversations over a cup of tea and biscuits. Ali struck up a conversation with Michelle and explained to her about how we were living for the month in Ireland. She told her that we walk to coffee shops to get Wi-Fi. Afterward, Michelle invited our team to come to her home and use Wi-Fi.

When I heard about Michelle’s offer, I was taken back from her proposal. Honestly, who would invite a group of 20 year olds to their home and just let them use their Wi-Fi? I nearly didn’t go because it freaked me out!

A few days later in the evening, Michelle’s husband, Alan arrived at our home for the month (Boy Scout Hall) and picked up myself, Ali and Mary. We arrived in their home and they showed us a private room for us. On the table were all types of treats (chocolates, gummies, chips, etc) and they offered us drinks. They left the room and allowed us to eat their snacks, drink their drinks and use their Wi-Fi. I felt so spoiled at the moment and treated like a princess. We didn’t leave until 10 or 11PM and they gave us money for a taxi back to our home.

Before we left Ireland, we visited again and this time Michelle gave me a fresh haircut. We enjoyed our time there and again they paid for our taxi back home and gave us extra money to get lunch for the following day.

WHAT!!! Who does that?

The way Michelle and Alan loved us this month has beyond blessed me! Their hospitality encouraged me to treat others the same way. To love not only by words but by actions. Meeting Michelle and Alan was a highlight for me in Ireland and I am so grateful to have met them! As you read this join with me and pray that the Lord blesses them greatly for blessing us during our time in Ireland.
