Driving to class this morning, a picture fell in my lap from my mirror. It was my favorite picture of my PawPaw and me. It is a picture of him pushing me on a swing when I was maybe five on a beautiful day.

The past few years, God has really revealed to me that material things don’t matter. Whattt?

I used to be obsessed with having the nicest things I could in hope that I would be cool. Those things never made me cool. For years, I blew through my hard earned money buying things that I didn’t need.

What matters is family. What matters is friendships. What matters is memories that warm our hearts. What matters is giving graciously of what is ours.

My new motto is that if I can’t fit it in my World Race backpack, I don’t need it.

Sure, it is great to have nice things. However; I promise that nice things won’t bring joy. I thought that for a long time, friends. If you want to talk about the joy the Lord has given me, let’s talk.

Fun note: Also, with my picture of my PawPaw in my car I have a sticky note. In January 2016, at a resident assistant meeting my boss asked us to make a resolution for the year. I said I wanted to be “passionate about life.” Wow, wow, I just want to brag on God because I am passionate about this journey of faith I have embarked on. I was in a bad place in January. God has really transformed my life this year. I promise, His plans are always better if you will let Jesus take the wheel.

Just a thought for the day,
Roxanne Bailey:)
