After landing in Nepal, we had a few days (around 6 days) of debrief. Debrief happens every 3-4 months where we get a few days of rest as well as a time to talk to our coaches and our squad leaders individually and as a team. This months debrief consisted of worship sessions, group and individual meetings with our wonderful coaches aka Mama Kris and Papa Doug, the girls had a time of vulnerability where they were able to share things that were in secret and to get prayer or whatever Papa had for that specific person while the guys had their one time somewhere else; free time to get lost in the city (jk no one got lost or left behind), shop or just rest.
Week 1 of Ministry (Wednesday-Sunday)
Prayer Journey to each of the government houses: President house, Parliament, Police Academy and Prime Minister:
My team and I went with a guide to each of these places and we not only visited but prayed individually for each of them. It was interesting to see how beautiful and well guarded all of these places were. Some had barbed wire and armed guards at the gate and by armed I mean rifles!
Slum Ministry (aka C.A.R Cup whose mission is to rescue and restore children from the streets "to" and "with" families using food, football (soccer) and music).
We arrived at one of the larger slums where TAMI has ministry and I was astonished at how many children there were. My mommies heart was in need of some kids to love on and sure and behold there were plenty of hungry kids. A group stayed and played with the kids while others went and prayed over the houses. I stayed and played with them. We played "ring around the roses", we jumped, they wanted to be hugged to which I gladly obliged. Even 10 year olds wanted to be picked up and held. There was also this cute little baby, I called her Chubby cheeks and all I wanted to do was hold her and play with her and let her know how much her heavenly Father adores her. As we were leaving, the kids didn’t want to see us go and it broke my heart to see them come after us so. And as we were walking away, one of my squad-mates told me something that she saw when I was loving on Chubby cheeks. She said that "God practically screamed REDEEMED in my ear and then I just saw Papa holding that little baby and loving on her and just letting her know how beautiful, lovely she is."
Our heavenly Father loves and adores all His children 🙂
The Hike (aka Prayer Walk and Worship session to a temple)
So…we hiked a serious hill or more like small mountain all the way to the top where a Hindu temple was. As we were walking we prayed. I even busted out my music and let some worship flow. It was beautiful. Papa was taking me on a nature walk. When I reached the top, it was breathtaking! No, not the temple but Papas creation since you could see all around the city. On the way down, we stopped for prayer and worship. We were also asked to pick up stones during our walk and then to write what you wanted to see happen to this city. On my stone I wrote "Freedom in Christ", because that is something that we all need. We build an alter with all of our stones and prayed over the city and valley.
Worship Night at Iris House of Prayer aka "Soaking"
What's great about the Race is that you get to meet other organizations like Iris and YWAM that are in the area and we can all come together in a house for praise and worship. A whole 4 hours of it too! A time where we all prayed, cried, prayed in tongues, laughed, sang our heart out (even if it was out of tune, Papa doesn’t care) It was an incredible night where Papa did wonders in my heart and in all the hearts present. Go Papa!
Kathmandu International Christian Congregation (KICC)
A congregation of English speakers with a body of believers from all over the world. It did my heart good to see the whole school filled with believers and to witness a baptism happen right after church. Papa is working in Nepal!!!
Week 2 of Ministry:
Prophetic Drawing and Tara Slum School
I have never heard of prophetic drawing so I was very excited when Brian was explaining it to us. He said that we are to pray for inspiration and to let the Holy Spirit do the rest of the work and whatever picture you get even if you don’t understand it, to start drawing it out. I was sooo excited. SO I pray and ask Papa to take my hand and draw. And as I'm praying a picture comes to mind and I start drawing with my eyes half-closed too. When I finished it was a beautiful waterfall that flowed into a tornado and the words that I got were Free and Redeemed.
After we had finished, we were split up into teams and we went into the Tara slum School. It’s a slum where TAMI has another ministry: a school. We prayed in the school for blessings, and then we walked around the slum. I'm a high feeler and as we were prayer walking, I just started crying because I felt all their pain, of being forgotten, of not loved. There was a stillness there that wasn’t in the other slum. People were more in their houses and maybe that could have been because it was raining. As we walked I kept praying for Papa to lead me to the person who would benefit the most from the drawing. No sooner had I prayed that and my feet turn to a young women. I go to her, make small talk (she didn’t speak a whim of English) and then I showed her the picture and her eyes…they started to get teary eyed. I prayed with her and continued praying for her, her family and the rest of the slum.
Jewelry Making And Women at Risk and Bar Outreach:
We started out our morning with worship and prayer also know as amad which means "in the presence of God" for one hour. No music. Just soaking in His presence, reading His word and journaling. Its beautiful and empowering.
After amad, we made jewelry. It was so fun to see everyone's creativity and to see the guys make some pretty legit bracelets or necklaces. We were making them for the Women At Risk (WARM).
When we finished, we took several busses to the brothel district. We were told that a lot of these women are trafficked from other countries or sold by their families. My team went into a brothel and we ordered drinks. It wasn’t a busy place. We were told that usually men just come and go from the back area and the women never get a break. It was so heartbreaking!! These women are Papas daughters. They are treasures not trash to be picked on. They are princesses not slaves. Our guide encouraged us to open our Bibles and to proclaim light into these dark places. And that’s what we did! We prayed and spoke life over that particular brothel, over the women/girls, over the owner.
So much pain, BUT, Papa can make beautiful things out of dust.
**Continue to pray that the Nepali WARM staff continue the visits to these places as well as hopefully rescue any attempts.**
