Our fifth month of the World Race led us to a village about an hour and a half north of the capitol, Kiev. You can’t go much farther north because of Chernobyl, so the area was pretty remote. We worked with a ministry called Jeremiah’s Hope, which is run by an awesome American family (the Kellys) who live in Ukraine with their three children. They run a summer camp that allows the local children to learn about Jesus and the Bible, all the while being shown love and even eating an adequate amount of food, which they don’t normally get at home. Because it was during the off season, we only saw the children for a short two-day camp. That camp was run by a group of college students from Texas, who came to Ukraine for a weeklong mission while we were there. We worked with the Texans to revamp the camp and get it ready for the summer- painting, building, pouring cement, and more. We also helped throw a baby shower for a fantastic Ukrainian couple, Sergei and Svieta, who are expecting their first child soon and work closely with the Kellys to run the camp. Enjoy!
