Tuesday is a special day at Los Gozosos- it’s ballet
day!! Every Tuesday an American
girl that lives with her family here in Guatemala comes over to teach four of
the girls- Helen, Candy, Lyla, and Andrea. They wear tights and leotards with skirts and they look SO
PRECIOUS. Last week I helped them
get ready- putting on tights, adjusting leotards, and attempting to keep Helen
from pulling the waist of her skirt up to her ribcage. Helping them get ready was so fun for
me; it gave me a glimpse of the joy my mom must have felt when she got my
sisters and I ready for dance countless times.
The girls definitely won’t be opening their own Nutcracker production
anytime soon, but I think they really enjoy dressing up and learning from the
teacher!
Their dance clothing is getting worn and they don’t have
ballet shoes. If anyone reading
this is interested in donating some new or gently used ballet clothes and shoes
for the girls, please email me and hopefully we can work something out!
