Today is our first full day in El Salvador. We got right
into ministry- in the early afternoon we were able to go to a school to talk
and worship with some students.
But more on that in the first El Salvador blog 🙂

After our last week of ministry at Los Gozosos Home in
Chimaltenango, we spent two days at the beautiful lake Atitlán.

Wait, actually, let me back up one more step.

On Wednesday of our last week in Guatemala, all 16 World
Race people at our location ended up in the hospital.

Why, you ask?

Parasites.

Yep, living organisms inside the intestines making
themselves comfortable. Parasites.

Fortunately, only three people felt much of the effects of
the parasite.  Unfortunately, one
of them was me.  Fortunately, I was
not one of the 10 that had to stay overnight in a hospital with an IV.  Fun, huh?

I just had to drink 8 bottles of Pedialyte and take 7 days
worth of Cipro and 5 days worth of Abendazole.  Woohoo!

I was feeling really good for a few days but then the
parasite did flare up again yesterday.
This means a pretty nasty stomache.

So if you could pray for that, that would be awesome.

On to our weekend at Atitlán

We traveled by bus for two hours from Chimaltenango to
Panajachel.  Panajachel is a
touristy (but also pretty authentic) town on Lake Atitlán. It’s a very beautiful lake
surrounded by volcanoes.  I had
actually been there for a day trip two weeks before, but this time we got to
spend the night.  We stayed in a
really beautiful hostel and visited a gorgeous part of the lake at a hostel
called “La Casa del Mundoâ€ or “House of the World.â€  I would highly recommended it for anyone looking for a
honeymoon location!

We had the most AMAZING lunch at the cafe there.  It was so nice to just sit and relax in a quiet place! I was feeling very content, and God definitely blessed us with a nice little retreat before diving into this month’s ministry.

I know it’s silly to post a lot of pictures of food, but it made me really happy 🙂

The most amazing lemonade with strawberries and spearmint 🙂  I don’t think I’ve been more excited on this trip except when I saw Karlyn walk without help!

After Atitlán we got in a bus (a private one thank goodness!!  Our logistics people are amazing!) with two other teams and rode the 8ish hours to San Salvador.  Unfortunately my parasite kept me up a lot of the night before, but luckily my stomachache only lasted 45 mns into the bus ride and then I felt fine.  Border crossing was no problem, and now we are at our ministry for the month!  It will be just out team, Team Nightvision, but all of the other teams are working with other contacts who are closely associated with ours.  Our contacts are three amazing women who are working with the other contacts to build up churches in the area, specifically a program call GPS- Generation Prepared for Salvation.  We will be doing some evangelizing on the streets, visiting a group of kids with cerebral palsy twice a week, and going to talk to kids in schools.  I’m very excited about it!

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support.  I can’t believe one month is already over- it feels like I’m really on the race now!  And just a quick update- I need about $1700 by April 1st!

Much Love!
