The last couple weeks God has been speaking to me about learning what he is trying to teach me RIGHT NOW. I been focus so much in in January (I’m leaving in January for the race ) that I am missing what the Lord is trying to teach me beyond the world race. The reason why I’m writing about this topic is because I know I’m not alone. As christians, we often have problems with the “in between seasons.” We want to know where we are, and we get so focused on the breakthrough season that we lose what God is trying to teach us between the beginning and breakthrough. We need to understand that we already had a breakthrough when Jesus broke though that grave 2000 years ago. He continually gives us personal breakthroughs because our God loves us so much, but even without them, the resurrection should be enough because now we have his presence with us everywhere we go.
I graduated with my masters in Finance in June of 2015, and I had my life planned for after graduation. One thing you should know about finance people (numbers people) is that we like to plan, we like details, we need to know how things are going, we need to know what financial season or stage we are in, and I had trouble balancing that mindset with my walk with Jesus. Jesus didn’t want to “fit in” with my life or my way of thinking, He wanted to be in control of my life, so I had to let go and change my mindset. I had to learn that I couldn’t choose my seasons, but I could choose my spirit. I had to learn to stop declaring my seasons as if God takes orders from me. I had to learn to protect my faith, to protect my view of the process, whether I like it or not. I am a work in progress and I’m proud of it because the world glorifies the finished product but our God glorifies the work in progress, and i’m all about what Jesus loves.
1 Timothy 4:15 “Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress”. I love this verse because It shows that people will see the progress. We need to let the Holy Spirit lead us so people can see God’s work. The between is a good thing, don’t let the devil fool you. God is doing more than you can ever see. We need to learn to be okay being a work in progress, learn to lean on God. You don’t need all the answers, Jesus is the answer. Also, The Lord has been talking to me a lot about being content, being content in whatever season I am are right now. A healthy contentment can be a powerful source for strength in our life. Our enemy would love it if we constantly compared yourself to others, never feeling like we are enough. But we are, and the great thing is that we are not because of anything we have done but because Jesus is more than enough inside of us. We are made to do something bigger than ourselves. There is never a right time, we don’t need to be ready, we don’t need to put yourself together, because while you are waiting for the “perfect time” the world is falling apart. If we spend all our time looking back, you’re going to miss what God has for you up ahead. So let’s move forward in faith.
1 Timothy 4:16 “Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you”. There is beauty in the between season, and people are watching us. This life is far more than just about us or what you want. Our mission is to live like Jesus and lead people to Jesus and people might do it from different places. You might do it from a church, you might do it through social media, wherever God called you do to. We are the body of Christ, there is no competition; we just need to go where God calls us to go so everyone can be reached. The most painful part of your process will also produce the most power in your life, so let’s embrace it and learn from it, don’t run from it. Let’s be so in love with a mission that whatever He called us we will go, even if it costs everything.
So, if you struggling with “ the between season” know that God didn’t forget about you. Learn what you need to learn during this season so you can pass the tests and move forward. Let’s choose to follow God to the unknown, even the between seasons. Let’s Seek God and choose to let Him go into the deep places of our soul.
