I know this was not the blog that you expected. Since I’ve been on the field for more than two months, I know you have waited for a blog outlining my experiences, and I promise that it’s coming.
I just felt led to talk about something different. An issue I’ve struggled with, and it may sound silly, but it’s important to me. I’ve struggled with blogging.
Life can be very busy on the Race. We frequently experience new things, and the process can be challenging. With so many pressing matters, I’ve put blogging as the last on the list. It’s not that important so it’s okay for it to be last right?
Well, that’s what I thought, and then the Lord led me to Philemon 1:6, a sweet verse written by Paul.
“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”
After reading this verse, my mind changed and my eyes were finally open to blogging.
Isn’t it beautiful how our eyes can be closed and Jesus uses a tiny moment to reveal something that was right in front of us? I knew I should blog. I heard sermons about it, my leaders told me about, and I even asked all my friends to subscribe to my blog because I was excited about sharing all of my experiences. However, I got busy and put it off. It took one moment with Jesus to open my eyes to it. How sweet is He?! I just love Him so much!
Anyways, what I learned from this verse is that sharing my faith changes me, changes people, and brings glory to God. These three truths are the keys to my heart—transforming to be more like Jesus, loving people, and bringing glory to His name. Ahh! He sure knows my heart! These are the three points I concluded about why I should blog:
1. Blogging changes the way I see things: We should always look for insight and wisdom and value in every situation, no matter how big or small. If we live life looking for what is worthwhile in every situation, we will see more of what the Lord is teaching us. The more He teaches us, the more we can share with others. As we begin to be inspired and collect ideas, we have new revelations and our lives are enriched far beyond our blog.
2. Blogging impacts people’s lives: “Life is ministry, ministry is life” is my squad’s motto for this year. We are always ready to share our stories with those around us. However, we can forget people back home or even around the world. Blogging can have a huge impact. I understand that our motto means there are no limits to the way I can reach people and that has changed my thinking. Also, people can turn away from sermons or the Bible, but the cannot deny what the Lord has done in our lives. As people hear our stories, they can identify with us and realize that there is hope. As we share our faith story, the Holy Spirit can speak to people and draw them to faith in Jesus Christ. Sharing our faith stories can also draw us closer to Christ.
3. Blogging brings glory to God: The Lord can use our story for the salvation of the nations. People hear about the Gospel from those who are living out the gospel. They are redeemed when we point them to the Redeemer. They are saved when we point to the Savior. The Lord uses our stories not because they are great, but because He is great.
So I hope this encourages you to start sharing your stories. Whether you are on the race, a college student, single, married, a parent, or whatever stage you are in life, The Lord is doing something in your life and people should know it. Our stories remind us that the victory is won. So, don’t be silent. Share what God is doing in your life!
