I have so many emotions right now and I’m trying to articulate how to express them. Honestly, I delayed this blog as much as I could. Our team moved from Botswana down to South Africa for our squad debrief. We spent a couple of days in Nelspruit and then headed to Jeffreys Bay for our ministry month together. For me, this has been by far one of the most emotional months for many reasons. Here are some…

My dad’s health back home has been really rough for the past few weeks. He’s been admitted to the hospital a couple of times because of his breathing problems. One of our squad members lost his dad so he went back home. Our entire squad was heartbroken and sad. Our family host in Jeffreys Bay, Wendy, and Roger lost their 19 year old son Austin last year. Austin moved to the States to marry his girlfriend Rachel and right after that they were both killed in a car accident. In honor of them, a Mission House was built and we were all staying in it. That same week Rachels parents flew in from the States to bury half of their ashes in the back of the house. So much was going on and my heart just felt shattered.

Our ministry consisted of many different things. Some of us helped build a soup kitchen in one of the townships. Another group helped with fundraising for the Soup Kitchen. Some tutored kids at Book n Beats and others helped with cooking for the squad. A lot was going on but I truly saw God move within our squad. We grew in unity with one another. After work, we would eat dinner together, spend hours talking, playing games, watching movies, and putting puzzles together. We also had a worship and prayer night where we took time to encourage each other. We learned more from one another and we shared each other’s hurts.

It’s beautiful to see what God can do when you have a community of believers with the same mission. Our mission is to love people like Jesus does and bring His kingdom into their hearts. Do you have a community that’s got your back? People who build you up and not tear you down? People who are madly in love with Jesus? Community is legit and we all need it so if you have one be grateful and continue to love one another. If you don’t then I encourage you to find people around you who also share the same mission as you.

Please keep me in your prayers and send me any prayer requests you have on your heart!

Love y’all!
