Hey, y’all!
I’m so sorry for not blogging sooner but I promise to catch you up!! So let’s rewind… Aghhh it’s been INSANE!! We went to 12 countries in Europe during the last two months! As much as I’d love to share about every place we went…. I can’t. So we’ll have to save some of them for coffee chats when I get back! But I do want to share my favorite cities, why they made it to the favorite list and what we did during our time there.
The first one is BUDAPEST! This city is in the country of Hungary which is located in Eastern Europe. As we planned our month we prayed and God placed this city on our hearts. We didn’t know why but we were ready to find out!
On our first day, we dropped our bags and hit the streets like we usually do in every country. Our goal is to get the most out of our time there with the people and the culture. The more I walked around I quickly saw that Budapest was a refuge city. People from all around the world move here for a better life. Sound familiar? Well, it very much touched home for me and our country. We met people from Syria, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Iran, Nepal, and Thailand who were either working or studying. One of them was Abrahim. He’s from Afghanistan and moved 13 years ago and now owns a Kebab stand. His family is back in Afghanistan and he works day and night all week long. Such a hard worker and he does it with a great attitude. We got to eat at his stand a couple of times and listen to his stories as he continued to make kebabs for other customers. His personality was contagious and Cari and I were always excited for the next time we would get to talk to him. Abrahim comes from a Muslim family and respects everyone’s religion. The more we got to know him the more we were able to share our faith with him as well. He quickly became our friend and before we left we got to tell him that God loves him and has a purpose for his life.
On our last day in Budapest, we decided to use Couchsurfing and Bumble Friends to meet people. If you read my previous blog you know that I love using the Couchsurfing App lol. We found two Hungarian girls that wanted to hang out with us. Our team loves getting to meet strangers and making them our friends. Such an incredible feeling… TRUST ME. Tamara and Natalia both live in Budapest and love their city. They took us all around and showed us their favorite spots. There’s seriously no better way to travel than to see a place through a locals eyes. So take note…. When you travel ALWAYS meet locals who can show you around. It was then when I realized how easy it can be to share the gospel with people from all around the world but I still find myself struggling in that area. In Acts, the Bible talks about Pauls boldness to share the good news but even he struggled at times! Crazy huh. I pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give me that same boldness every day. My heart is to share the gospel with every person but I’ve realized that it’s more important that I walk the talk more than I talk the talk. Do you feel me? So I’ve been asking myself… How am I walking a noticeable lifestyle that demonstrates my love for Jesus??
I want to challenge you to take a moment and ask yourself that same exact question. Grab a pen/pencil and spend the next few minutes in silence. Just you and the Holy Spirit. Write down what comes into your heart and pray over it.
Would love to hear what you got if you want to share with me.
