Travel day took 3 days, and we met our ministry host Abraham (who is also our home host). He is a super cool guy with an awesome personality and humor. My team and I are staying with him and his family of 2 girls and his wife. Zim already feels like home and I love it already.

Saturday is usually our off day but we had orientation and lessons for our ministry. The things I am gonna get to do this month are pretty sweet. Just a brief throwback to Nepal and evangelizing. It was difficult to see a lot of people battling with malnourishment, lack of education, and never hearing the name of God. I had prayed for guidance and peace that Jesus would take care of his children but it is something I think about often. Back to ministry here in Zim. Everything that I mentioned is what we are doing here for the month. The school system here in Zim includes scripture in their everyday lessons and it is awesome!! Imagine having a discussion about loving people and then having scripture be something the teachers use to back up their knowledge and understanding of love. Now that is cool. My team and I are going to travel all over Bulawayo and the surrounding area to go to school systems and get to be those teachers in a sense. During our orientation, we were given lesson plans that teachers use and we get to look over it and teach it to kids. In the most humble way possible, we have power here as white young adults. Abraham explained that we are different to what kids usually see, and looking up to us and seeing how we love the lord and act will give confidence to the children we see. We are getting to meet with mostly grade school kids (there is no middle school) and maybe high school and elementary. A huge prayer request is to be good ministers to these kids and to always be examples of the Lord not only during our ministry, but in everyday life.

CHURCH WAS AMAZING

Sunday morning, we got to the church at 9am and we thought it was a lot like America churches… False. We began in worship, then a bible study, then morning prayers, then the service began which included; worship, announcements, giving, worship, sermon, and then fellowship/ dismissal. This took 3 hours. The way these people prayed was so powerful and the way they worshiped was so fun and full of love. Stella was being prayed for by a woman who was just going and going and I felt such a presence of the holy spirit… I was not even the one being prayed for… wow. The sermon was phenomenal. The guy who preached had such an awesome understanding of the scripture he was presenting and gave it his all. I was in awe the whole time with the presence of the Lord and the way his people gathered in a different way than what I am used to.

Today is Monday the 13th and I just finished my first day of ministry, well part of it. We woke up and got to the office early in the morning and Lindsay and I teamed up to go talk to a school and the children. We played “simon says” and then got to talk about life and the adventure that it is. We talked about a compass, map and a guide. You would want all these things while going on a journey, right? Well you do have them. We explained to the kids the same way I will explain to you, the person reading. The map is life and it shows all the paths that could be taken through it. The compass is something that keeps you on the right path and also lets you know where you are… aka the bible. Lastly, the guide is Jesus. Someone you can go to, ask questions, and rely on when you are in a situation.

Okay now the title of my blog. I am sure you are all waiting for the explanation and if you aren’t then I am sorry but here it is. Team and I were walking around and we were crossing the street. I was in the front and behind me was Stella, Emily and Jackson. We were all in a blob talking when all of a sudden, I turn right and wham bam check ya ma’am there was a car going light speed heading right for me. I did not feel scared but I had such a peace when the car stopped about 5 feet before it hit us. My heart was not pumping and I was confused as to why I didn’t have any adrenaline. Whatever that feeling was it was super weird. Yes mom, dad, and everyone else… I realize I am not invincible. We will take this as a learning experience for myself and everyone else on my team 🙂 love you all! #CLICKBAIT
