I’ve always been kind of cautious with my money. I mean, I love to give but if I feel I don’t have enough to live “comfortably” with, I just hold on to it.
Well God really shook my ordinary routine up this week and I am so grateful for it.
The truth is, I don’t have a lot of money in my bank. After buying all my supplies for the world race, plane tickets to training camp and launch and just paying monthly bills its been tight. They suggest you have 1100 dollars personal money when you leave on the world race, and that can be very overwhelming when you only have 100 dollars in your account! But HEY I serve a big God and I know he will provide!
So here’s what happened. We had a special speaker come to our church last wednesday! She is a super sweet, awesome girl who really spoke life into me. At the end of the night they said we were gonna take up a offering for her. My first thought, oh man she has been so awesome, but i know other people will give her some money. Well thats when God spoke right to me and said… No Robyn, you will give to her. As you can imagine, a girl who doesn’t have a lot of money in the bank and a girl who when doesn’t have a lot of money in the bank, likes to hold onto it… I was freaking out a little bit inside.
Ok i thought! I’m gonna do it! You know best God and I wanna honor you in everything! SO let’s do it!
Well, another opportunity came up when I was up North visiting my friend. We went to a church there and I happen to meet a girl who was trying to raise money so she could go work with less fortunate woman over in Thailand. HELLO! I mean when I heard that I was pretty PUMPED because I too am going to be going to Thailand!
Again, God spoke SO CLEAR to me. Robyn I want you to give. Well this was crazy because I honestly didn’t even know if I had any money in the bank. I actually postdated the check to make sure it would go through! So I started to talk to her! I got to tell her about the WR and she told me about her mission. At the end of our talk she gave me a big hug and told me how grateful she was! During our conversation she said hmmm maybe the WR will be what i do next… hey you never know! Anyways I just thought it was so awesome. It was a small group of people at church and out of them a young girl, like me was trying to fundraise and go to the nations to Be Jesus’ hands and feet! Ummm yep, I think I can give a little financially!
So when I’m giving this money, I’m believing for it to come in for me to! But even if nothing came in, I had so much joy in my heart that I could bless someone else.
The same day, Im having a sunday afternoon nap, you know classic sunday naps, and I get a phone call from my dad! He says guess what… you just received a donations for your world race for $400! WHAT!!! I was in shock. I mean GOD IS SO GOOD! As I was giving away a check, God was bringing in a Check for me… the same day! Its so cool! All it took was a little bit of faith!
So as Im having a little freak out, faithful God, faithful God ran through my head probably 100 times. I was kind of in shock actually. Then a quite voice speaks so clear and so gentle to me. “Robyn why are you so shocked. Don’t you know I Love you and I Will provide for you. I want to give you what you need and what you pray and ask for. Don’t doubt me, I’v got your back.” WOW. Ok thank you God.
I knew if I wanted to be even more blessed than I am now, I had to be willing to give a little! Even though I don’t have tons of money for my “personal needs” I AM SO blessed and have been so blessed financially on the world race! I mean I’m at $9000. COME ON NOW! They say someone lived off next to nothing when it came to personal money on the race anyways… so why fear?
This is my point. When you think you won’t make it. When you feel discouraged or stuck at a point… give a little. God wants to poor in your blessings but He wants you to FULLY trust him with the little you have.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38 NLT
