I wrote this blog during debrief in the D.R.. Sorry it’s taken me so long to post it.                                                                                                                                                                                                   I’ve
been trying to figure out for the last week my thoughts and how I
feel about Haiti but I just can’t seem to get it in written form so
I’ll just tell you some of the things we did and some of the things
we saw.
We stayed at a YWAM base in
Gonaives. As
some of you may know from my last blog we thought living conditions
were going to be rather difficult. We were expecting the worst and
God blessed us more abundantly than we could have imagined. We had a
roof over our heads, beds to sleep in and a bathroom with running
water. It made me think of how for granted we take these basic things
at home. It also made me even more thankful for God’s provision
though out my life. At home those things are essentials; in some
places around the world their luxuries.

    The
YWAM base we were staying at was working on building a third floor
for class rooms. They had hired builders so the majority of our time
was spent sifting and carrying buckets of sand up 2 sets of stairs
and carrying over a 1,000 concrete blocks up those same stairs. I
don’t know if this is what any of us were expecting to do and even
though I would have liked to help the community more. I’m thankful
that God gave us the opportunity to build on something that’s going
to continue to grow in Haiti.
