For starters, I'm super sorry that I haven't updated my blog much this month. I have a bunch that I've written and I'm working on getting them all uploaded soon. The below info was written about 2 weeks ago: 10/24/11
I can't believe our time in Guatemala is almost half over! Things have been crazy-awesome so far and a blessing in so many more ways than I expected coming into this trip. Life, much like this trip, is such a journey into the unknown sometimes. It pulls, pushes, stretches, and molds us in ways we don't always see coming and can't always fully understand. It seems like I've known most of these people for most of my life, yet we just met a mere 3 1/2 months ago! It's so crazy how fast time flies sometimes! It's unbelievable sometimes, but in this case in a very good way.
I know for a fact that they've ALL been placed in my life at this time for a specific reason. Throughout life, "God doesn't always give u the people/things u want, but He gives u the people/things u need: to help you, to hurt you, and to make ur life what u never dreamed it could be!" Right now, I'm working on that last one… with a bunch of the first thrown in there, too… I know I'm exactly where I need to be! :o) I'm so blessed to have this opportunity and I thank you for ur cont. prayers & support!

Breakin' Through The Walls
As the days pass by, thick walls cont. to be demolished by us all. I love my team, I love my squad, and I love my life! I'm SO thankful for the opportunities & blessings that have been bestowed upon me throughout my life thus far and I know they're gonna cont. to flow abundantly in the months/years to come.
Today was a very trying, growing, stretching, persevering, patience-building, friendship-growing day for me. Yesterday, I broke my ankle and tore some ligaments shortly after lunch time so today was my first full day of having to maneuver around with crutches and the assistance of others.
Here's what I wrote after snapping my ankle:
You've GOT to be kidding me?! I've had an amazing wknd here in Guatemala and earlier today, Monday, was pretty good as well… UNTIL… I stepped off a curb wrong, my ankle buckled almost immediately, and I went down… tearing a couple ligaments and very slightly fracturing the 2 small bones by my ankle… no bueno! Now, my leg is supposed to be in a cast for 6-8 weeks, even though I'm only in Guatemala for another 2wks. Crutches and I don't mix well, but I'm going to keep my positive pants on and learn how to make do with the situation. Luckily, I have some awesome supportive people here with me to help me out along the way as needed. This is only a slight snag in the road w/ a fairly high possibility of frustration added, it's def not something too severe. It could be a whole lot more painful right now, I could have a bedroom upstairs, and I esp. could have arm cushion-free (thus more painful) crutches, BUT I don't, PTL! 🙂
