Rebirth (written on 12/18/11)
Today has been a great day so far! Ignite and Kaleo went to church with people from the orphanage this morning – and we got an unexpected English translator during the service which was a huge blessing. (I spent much of the time reading things on my own tho) Afterwards, we came back to eat a delicious meal (def. one of the best since we've been here) and got ready for a small journey that laid ahead of us. Today was a day of hijacked plans, growth, and rebirth. My brother Brian Cooke got baptized by our squad leaders on the 1yr anniv of his salvation aka: out of 3 months on the world race, he's already had 2 birthdays to celebrate: his actual birthday and his Jesus birthday / rebirth-day. It was awesome to witness and has been amazing to see/hear all the changes that have taken place in his life so far! I've been so blessed to call him my teammate the last few months and can't wait to see where this crazy journey takes both of us in the future! Check out his blog to get some insight into the world of Brian aka: Brain
I mentioned that our plans got hijacked (again) but by world race standards they were only very slightly hijacked this time. You see, after lunch the 14 of us, a guy from the orphanage, and the driver from the orphanage piled into our bus to begin a short journey to some hot springs nearby. The plan was to baptize Brian in the hot springs, maybe go swimming and hang out for a bit, then head back here. Well… those plans were changed soon after we left the orphanage because our bus ran out of gas and we were stranded on the side of the road. [Although AAA was mentioned, I highly doubt they'd get here in time… even if we honestly told them that we were in the city of Los Angeles, I doubt it would've helped. haha] After singing a few worship songs and talking for a bit, we discovered there was a nearby beach within walking distance that we could go to.
