In case you all were wondering how long I'm in the States, and what I'm doing now that I'm not holding kids in Africa…

I'm living in Georgia.

Last month I moved down here, along with 25 other World Race alumni, to be a part of an apprenticeship program AIM has started called The Center for Global Action. You can read more about the details of this program on my blog home page.

Most of you reading this are family and friends who came along side me during last year on the World Race. I'd love to continue partnership with you this year and beyond. You have played a key role what God is doing in and through me, and it's important for me to let you in on my journey ahead.

Let me define the purpose of this "year of apprenticeship", as I'm calling it, and give it a little backstory.

Along my journey around the globe, I developed true heartache for the dreamers, the visionaries, the do-ers who were stepping out and living in the tension to meet the needs of orphans, widows, and hungry generations.

Men and women are bringing hope in the villages of Cambodia, off the Kenyan highways, in the slums of Guatemala, and in the red-light districts of Thailand. They are creating opportunities and taking risks to help those in need.

I want to tell their stories through other media beyond photography

WHAT I'M DOING:

This year it is my goal to learn how to be an effective visual storyteller. During my next seven months at the Center for Global Action I'm working in the marketing department of Adventures in Missions. My official position is "copywriter"…collaborating with my writing P.I.C., Miss Ruth Wilson, and learning from seasoned writers like Jeff Goins. I'm also taking three classes as a part of the CGA program, alongside my peers of 25 World Race alumni.

I'm meant to be an excellent storyteller. I'm meant to be an advocate for the voiceless. I know that's true because it's who I already am, and now I'm going to take that calling farther and deeper into excellence through writing and video.

I live in a community house with other WR alumni, where we're learning how to be radically loving, disciplined, worthy people in the "real world". And I'm spending my time outside of the office and class focusing on technically advancing my media skills, while receiving mentorship from people I never thought I'd get to meet in person, let alone learn from on a regular basis.

That's 2013 (part one).
Apprenticeship. Learning. Developing technique and understanding of writing, video, and media in the field of humanitarian/non-profit marketing.

My support raising requires $450 for the next 7 months.
{Housing. Classes. Internship.}

I'm asking for 5 people to partner with me in this year of apprenticeship by donating $100 a month for the next 7 months, and praying with me through this year.
