Today we went to the beach and had a free day… our last day in the Dominican Republic…although we will be returning in a month! It was awesome to swim in the ocean and relax a little! BEAutiful! So, we found out where we will be for our first month…..Haiti! A little place just outside of Port Au Prince with LOTS of orphan children to love on! YAY!!! We will be camping out in our tents, it will be EXTREMELY HOT, there will be no running water, there will be no electricity, but there will be a lot of opportunities to work, love, and build relationships with the local people. I will have access to internet once a week, not sure which day yet though. I am SUPER excited to rough the elements in Haiti! I have no idea what to expect but I am anxious and excited. The language will be Creole, and my French is not so bueno…so it will definitely be interesting. We also found out that we will NOT be going to Asia after Ireland. Instead we will do our European countries first to save some dinero! Also we will not be going to Turkey…sad. But there is too much going on there and AIM does not think it is a good idea to bring 75 Americans into Turky right now. BUT, I am super excited because that means that I will be going to Romania and maybe staying longer in Ireland, or going to somewhere else in Eastern Europe!!!!! Super excited to find out. Then after Europe, I will go to Africa, then go to Asia last!!! I´m pumped!
My teammate Lia might be posting some pictures and videos on her blog, so definitely go look at it! [email protected] I hopefully will have more fun stuff to post saturday! The currency in Haiti will be Gourdes, which is 40 Gourdes to 1 US dollar. The dominican has been awesome! I have been our team translator, and have done pretty darn good at it! I also am enjoying being in charge of our finances! It is fun! I have been really well so far, Praise God! Feeling really good!
I love my team! We are jiving together really well and are going to rock the countries we visit together! Lia, our team leader is a rock! She is someone I already look up to in many ways. Everyone is unique and adds something awesome to the overall group! I´m excited to get to spend more alone time together. Right now all 75 of us are here for launch in the dominican. We have been having a blast!
