We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I’m expecting.

      I expect to:
  • Be broken
  • Be healed
  • Bring the Kingdom
  • To go and make disciples of all nations (or at least 11 of them!)
  • Be His hands and feet to a needy world
  • Learn about being open and vulnerable with people, which will probably be a long, painful process for me
  • Learn to tolerate eating peanut butter
  • Cry a lot
  • See God move in amazing and wonderful ways
  • See people come to Christ
  • See strongholds of the devil broken down and see God and His light completely permeate what before was in darkness
  • Grow in my knowledge of who I am in Christ and exactly what that means
  • Die to myself to live for the Lord
  • Experience a LOT of other cultures
  • Break down the box I have God in right now
  • Be emboldened
  • Get sunburned a lot in Africa
  • Pick up some phrases in a few different languages
  • Learn how to better listen to God
  • To see miracles happen
  • Be changed forever
Almost everything I’ve read has said that having expectations on the World Race can be detrimental, sometimes leading to disappointment. But I KNOW God is already preparing divine appointments for us, and I know He’s had this planned for us since He was forming us in our respective mothers’ wombs. He will move among us as we move among others, and they will be forever changed by His grace and mercy. I am expecting to be used by God in mighty ways.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.” John 14:12-13
