School forgot to tell me that I needed to live by faith, it told me I had to be able to prove everything I believed.
She forgot to tell me that without You in the middle it would never truly work, she said our love was enough.
Money forgot to tell me that chasing it was just a passing of the wind, it told me that it would make me powerful and oh so happy.
That bottle of Booze forgot to tell me that it wouldn't make my problems go away, it told me that it had all the answers and would fix all my problems.
That commercial forgot to tell me that You alone would suffice, it told me I needed "stuff" to be truly happy.
That motivational speech forgot to tell me that only You could change a mans heart, it told me that I had the power to make this broken man new.
Death forgot to tell me when my time was up, it told me that I always had plenty of time.
Time forgot to tell me that there isn't always tomorrow, it told me that I could always put off knowing You until tomorrow.
The tomorrow that never came never told me that I would have to stand and give account to You, it told me that this life would go on forever.
Thanksgiving forgot to tell me that I only needed to be thankful for Your finished work at the Cross and that You alone could save my soul, it told me that "superficial thanksgiving" for my blessings was enough.
They all forgot to tell me that to live is Christ and to die is gain, so I'm going to tell all of them because You are all that matters.
I heard You say pick up your Cross and Follow You, so here I am Lord, use me to flip this broken world upside down.
Happy Thanksgiving y'all, don't overlook the only sure thing any of us humans have in this life, that a Holy God would leave His heavenly throne to come and purchase a wretched man like me, every other blessing is just a bonus.
