As a squad, this month was definitely a roller coaster of emotions ranging from intense spiritual warfare to people being set free to all night worship. Through this process, God taught me a lot about the importance of His Presence and the raw power that is in the Fruits of the Spirit. In Swaziland, the powers of darkness are easily visible and there was a lot of Spiritual Warfare going on in our squad ranging from demonic dreams to doubting the goodness of God. Where darkness roams around so visibly only means that the Love of Christ rages even more.
The story I am going to tell is from a couple of nights ago when we had an all night worship session where we broke up into 2 hour prayer groups throughout the night. As a squad we were just praying against all darkness and evil attacks that have been going on at El Shaddai and just for the Lords protection after we left.
This month on a couple of occasions while praying I could feel the tangible Presence of the Holy Spirit so abundantly, causing so much joy that the powers of darkness could not overcome. At the all night worship session I went outside of the chapel for a moment and saw a squad mate who was struggling. I went over to her and she just explained how all of the sudden all this doubt and other emotions started to flood her mind and that she wasn't doing well. I started to pray against any evil attacks that she was having and just felt compelled by God to keep praying until something happened. Our squad mate Joe came out and I waved him over to come and pray with us and we began to boldly pray against all darkness and to really invite the Holy Spirit to come. We began to praise Jesus and His finished work at the Cross while praying for her and that's when it happened, the Presence of the Holy Spirit came over us and with Him came a joy that surpassed all understanding. Freedom began to flow into our sister and we could see the Love of God being poured abundantly and without measure into her heart. With God came Power and a Love that changed the whole atmosphere we were in and chains were being broken. Our squad leader Pat walked outside and said that he could immediately feel that the atmosphere was filled with God and started to be filled with joy as well. We prayed for over an hour and by the end of it as David says in the 23rd Psalms, her cup was overflowing! It was amazing to see how she went from doubt and weariness to radiating the Love of Christ and how she then felt compelled to share this Love and pray for other people.
In all circumstances Jesus is Lord and God is good, in the midst of trials keep your eyes fixed on the Cross and the Love of God and the powers of darkness will not prevail!
