Hey y’all!! My name is Robby Smith! I’m going on the July 2010 World Race! (And apparently, I love exclamation marks!) If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you want to know about me, which means that it’s my job to tell you about me. And for that, I would like to go ahead and apologize in advance for failing at my job. Because the first thing that you should know about me is that I’m not very good at talking about myself. The second thing is that I’m not very good at gathering my thoughts to write blogs. And the combination of those two things equals a horrible “About me” page. But oh well, let’s move on.
- I love kids (hence my Child and Family Development major). I currently work at an After School program at a local elementary school and love my job!
- I also love working with teens. I work with a ministry called SWAT Ministries that puts on weekend retreats for middle and high school students for local churches (Disciple Nows, if you know what that is)
- My two favorite sports to watch are baseball (Atlanta Braves) and football (Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs).
- I love making people laugh. My joke to serious comment ratio is probably about 500 billion jokes for every one serious comment. If you laugh at my jokes, you are instantly one of my favorite people.
- I like pretty much all kinds of music, except for country. The two most common types for me are probably Contemporary Christian (David Crowder Band, Hillsong United) and Christian rap (Lecrae, Flame, Tedashii).
- Speaking of music, I have Miley Cyrus on my IPOD and am not at all ashamed of it. I’m also not ashamed that Party in the USA used to be my ringtone.
- Speaking of music again, a few years ago, I was feeling creative and wrote a Christian parody to “Yeah” by Usher. I think the lyrics are in a note on my facebook if you wanna be extremely impressed.
- Speaking of facebook, just search for the email address [email protected] to find me since Robby Smith is such a common name. Also, rappers.
- Speaking of rappers (ok so I cheated on that transition), this past summer, I worked as the youth ministry intern at a church in Wisconsin. The youth pastor and I created a character for me called Robby the Intern Rapper. Throughout the summer, we created a video series that I starred in called “Ask the Rapper,” which was an advice show. It was awesome. You shoud go to my facebook and watch them cuz they’re awesome.
Ok I think that’s it. That’s all about me. I’ll leave you with some pictures cuz a picture is worth 1000 words. So pictures will significantly increase the number of words in this blog post which will make me look extremely hard working.
