So we’re supposed to talk about what we’re expecting from this trip. Really? Is it even possible to know what to expect with an experience like doing ministry in 11 different countries in 11 months? Oh well. Let’s see what I can come up with.
- I expect to have my mind blown. I guess that goes back to “can you really know what to expect?” The World Race is certainly going to be an experience like no other. I expect God to blow my mind in an awesome way.
- I expect my dependency on God to multiply exponentially. That’s already begun pre-World Race. Raising 14 grand anyone? Yeah, that’ll make you dependent on God. Haha. But beyond that, we’re going to be going into situations that are gonna be crazy. By month 4 of sleeping on the ground, being in constant 100-degree weather, eating strange foods, and not seeing a real toilet, I’m probably going to wonder why I signed up for this thing. Dependency on Jesus will be needed.
- I expect my faith to multiply exponentially. Again, that’s gonna begin pre-World Race. Seeing 14 grand flow out of seemingly nowhere? Yeah, that will likely increase my faith. And of course on the trip as well. I’m sure that in month 4, around the time I’m wondering what I’m doing here, God’s gonna use my team and I to have an awesome impact on someone’s life. God will show up in amazing, incredible ways during these 11 months.
- I expect to be humbled and made more selfless. This past week, I was having one of those “What the heck am I doing? I’m crazy for signing up for this” moments and thinking about how I’m gonna be sleeping in a tent in strange places, not showering regularly, not having a real toilet, eating crazy food. And during those thoughts, God interrupted and reminded me that I’m gonna be ministering to people who would love to live in a tent, would love to get any food at all. Yeah. I need humility.
- I expect for my boldness to increase. I’ve been reading in Acts and have fallen in love with the book. It’s been cool to read about how bold and obedient the apostles were and then think about my World Race trip. I so desire to live a bolder and crazier life for Jesus, knowing that I am doing it for a kingdom that cannot be shaken (Hebrews 12:28)
- I expect to eat crazy foods. I’m actually pretty excited about it.
- I expect to meet awesome people and make some awesome lifetime friends.
- I expect to meet my wife. Just kidding! That’s against World Race policy.
- I expect to fail at keeping up with my blog regularly.
- I expect to do something that’s gonna end up famous on YouTube (that could be good or bad)
Ok I’m obviously reaching for stuff now cuz I’m running out of thoughts. haha.
