So before typing this blog, I watched a little bit of 24
that was dubbed in Creole. Jack
Bauer is still amazing in every language.

So Wednesday, we decided to do some
ATL (for a reminder of what ATL is and to read about our previous experience
with ATL, click here). We took
some time to pray and seek out words from God and then got back together to
discuss what we got from God. So
basically, a quick (and probably not completely accurate cuz my memory isn’t
very good) summary of what we all heard from God: street vendors, a park, water behind the park, sidewalk
chalk, a little girl, an elderly lady, tent community, fun, smiling, and the
thought that we were supposed to walk a certain direction. So we left with our translator Canoo
(that’s probably not the correct spelling, but his name sure is fun to say) and
started to walk down the street. (By the way, in the middle of typing this blog, I had to stop to kill
the most enormous cockroach ever. I had solemnly sworn to kill it as my duty as a man. I took a picture of it that I’ll try to
post later.) After walking for
awhile, we stopped at this street vendor cart outside of a tent community. We of course saw that the street vendor
was selling sidewalk chalk (Yay God, you’re amazing). After being amazed by this confirmation, we bought some
sidewalk chalk and some nail polish (not for me) and went into the tent
community. Some of the girls
painted the nails of the girls in the community, and the rest of us played with
the kids, singing songs, playing games, running around, and just otherwise
acting crazy and stupid. It was
such an encouraging and awesome time of just being joyful and bringing joy to
the community. It was cool to see
the kids smile and laugh and also awesome to see some of the adults be joyful
about us playing with the kids.

I love that we serve a God that is
active and living. He does speak
to us and does guide our steps if we just take the time to listen. It was so cool and encouraging to see
the different words that we received be confirmed during our time of
ministry. I’m excited to continue
to be guided and used by God during the rest of our time in Haiti.
